10 Things Every DC Comics Fan Forgets About Sinestro

4. The Blackest Night

Sinestro DC
DC Comics

An alliance between old Green Lantern villain Black Hand and the entity Nekron saw the dead rise as members of the Black Lantern Corps, an event that Sinestro’s mentor Abin Sur had long feared.

Arin Sur was the former wife of Sinestro and was emotionally manipulating Sinestro during their battle, making him question his actions during the time she was alive. Before any resolution can be reached, Indigo-1 blasts Arin and dissipated her form. The others do the same to the other Black Lanterns. Once the planet is safe, they all agree to regroup and go to contact the leaders of the other Lantern Corps.

Nekron summoned the embodiment of the life force in the universe called The Entity. Sinestro entered the Entity and emerged as a being of white energy who was harmony with every being in the universe. During the battle with Nekron, Sinestro was killed but was healed by the Entity. Sinestro could become the true “Guardian of the Universe” but his own egotistical nature made him unable to retain the White Lantern energy. He reclaimed the yellow energy and the Lanterns worked together to separate Nekron from the energy that powers the Black Lantern and his armies expired again.
