10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Bane
4. He's Not Batman's Biggest Enemy
While the Joker is unmistakably Batman's nemesis, he often doesn't really consider himself as such - as the Clown Prince of Crime arguably more likely to consider their relationship a messed up form of friendship than anything else.
Meanwhile, Bane does very much consider himself the Dark Knight's biggest rival. Many storylines involving Bane revolve around the villain's desperate desires to take over and control Gotham - solely because he craves the victory of finally definitively beating the Bat by taking over his territory. It isn't about changing the Batman's mind or viewpoint, or some sense of getting a one-up - it's about completely destroying the Bat, and absolutely nothing else.
The Joker is Batman's most iconic enemy - that's not up for debate. But in terms of an actual rivalry, Bane may actually win out in some continuities.
