10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Bane

5. Peña Duro Was Created For Him

With Bane's story revolving around the imaginary prison Peña Duro, it'd be natural to presume that the prison was conceptualised to house him, and for no other reason.

But Peña Duro - and the Venom trials going on within it - actually wasn't tailor-made for the villain himself. The prison was actually created within the pages of The Question, with writer Denny O'Neil going on to provide these concepts for Bane's backstory, despite O'Neil not being the writer for Bane's premier in Knightfall itself.

It may be a small fact, but it's one that makes the history surrounding Bane all the more interesting, as he appears to have been made to fit perfectly into the universe, instead of the other way around. It's crazy to think that a drug-addicted escaped convict in a luchador mask fits perfectly into Batman's world - but it's also not entirely surprising.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
