While Cassandra Cain’s most famous and enduring superhero identity was Batgirl, it was not the only identity that she would have. In fact, she probably had the most identities of all the members of the Bat Family. The runaway 17-year-old Cassandra Cain was living in Gotham during the No Man’s Land event. She was working as a member of Oracle’s network of aides throughout the city, and after saving Commissioner Jim Gordon from her assassin father, Cassie was given the identity of Batgirl.

Cassandra operated as Batgirl for some time in both Gotham and Bludhaven, and has had her identity taken from her and returned on several occasions for different reasons. She currently operates as one of three Batgirls along with Stephanie Brown and Barbara Gordon, and she even joined the Justice League Elite as Katsumi to keep an eye on the team at the behest of Batman. Only Coldcast knew the truth.

While working with Batman Incorporated, Cassandra took the name of Black Bat and wore a costume given to her by Tim Drake. Bruce Wayne had her take on a Neo-heroin ring and she and Red Robin brought down a tournament of assassins. The New 52 saw Cass take the name of Orphan, as her mother Lady Shiva vowed to die before she would allow her daughter to take the symbol of the Bat again.
