10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Wolverine

5. He€™s A Loner By Nature

The first time Wolverine appeared, he was alone. Well, not strictly, since he was leaping at the Hulk with his claws fully extended: but he€™d been sent as a lone operative to deal with the jolly green giant as he strayed onto Canadian soil (snow?), with the implication being that€™s how he usually did things. Throughout most of his time in the comics and the films, he prefers his own company, and frequently runs off to go get up to some solo adventures without the back up of whatever iteration of the X-Men he€™s serving on. Logan€™s joining of Xavier€™s squad in Giant Size X-Men is noted as being odd and out of character for such a lonely loner, walking down a lonely road. In the years since Logan has always been insistent that he likes to work alone, despite the mounting evidence to the contrary: he€™s served on a good three dozen different teams, X-monikered and otherwise; mentored at least two pre-teen mutants (Jubilee and Kitty Pryde); he was even headmaster of a school. When€™s the last time he actually struck out on his own, despite what he says, eh?
