10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Black Panther
5. King Solomon's Frogs
Because Black Panther was popular from the get-go, it was only a matter of time before the African superhero got his own series. So, when Black Panther #1 hit the stands a decade after his debut, fans flocked to purchase the issue, eager to read about T'Challa's awesome adventures.
But instead of facing smugglers, mercenaries, or a conventional supervillain, Black Panther's first solo title has the Wakandan king travelling the world, looking for some robotic frogs. (Trust me, it somehow gets worse). These artefacts, which are known as King Solomon's Frogs, are composed of quantum energy, which allows the holder to be transported across time, space, and to other universes.
Look, if you want to introduce a weird space-time device into the story, that's totally fine. That's the sort of thing that most Marvel fans love.
But why is the time machine shaped like a frog? Why doesn't it resemble something cool like a wolf? Or a tiger? Or... y'know, A PANTHER!!?
Because these frogs haven't appeared in the comics in well over a decade, Marvel seems to have finally realised how dumb they are.
