10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Black Panther

4. Abandoned Storm

Black Panther Steve Rogers
Marvel Comics

Long before she became Storm, Ororo Monroe was living as a pickpocket in Cairo. While she was a teenager, a group of mercenaries kidnapped Ororo, and prepared to kill her.

Fortunately, a young prince T'Challa happened to be passing by at that time, and helped the weather-manipulating mutant defeat the criminals. Believing themselves to be kindred spirits, the two started dating, and T'Challa took Ororo's virginity soon after.

But once T'Challa saw the man who murdered his father, he left Ororo without explanation. When she found him several hours later, T'Challa told Ororo he had to focus on his kingdom and avenge his father. Believing Ororo would distract him from his destiny, T'Challa dumped her, then and there.

Because Ororo absolutely believed T'Challa was her soul mate, she was utterly heartbroken by this news, causing her to wallow in depression for years.

Although T'Challa could've dealt with the break-up a lot better, you can understand how he behaved, considering he was young, immature, and grief-stricken. After all, he made up with Storm years later, married her, and they all lived happily ever after, right?

.... right??
