10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Black Panther

2. Mindwiped Captain America

Years ago, Tony Stark created a secret think-tank called the Illuminati to discuss matters too delicate for the public to know. During these discussions, Iron Man, Professor X, Reed Richards, Doctor Strange, Namor, and Black Panther would often be forced to make some highly questionable decisions.

Although Captain America was passionately against the Illuminati to begin with, he ultimately agreed to join, believing the cabal was a necessary evil. But when he discovered his teammates were intending to destroy universes before they collided into their own reality, Cap pointed out that his friends were acting exactly like supervillains.

Instead of hearing him out, Doctor Strange attacked Cap, paralysing him with a magical spell. After a bit of deliberation, Black Panther and the others agreed to erase Cap's memory so he had no recollection of his time with the Illuminati.

What makes T'Challa's actions more hurtful is the fact that he originally declined to join the Illuminati, believing it to be a haven for corruption. Even though he chastised the group for being morally bankrupt, he agreed to mindwipe Captain America, without acknowledging his own hypocrisy.
