10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Black Widow
3. She Failed To Start Her Own Avengers
While Black Widow has always been a bit of a loner, she is also a long serving member of the Avengers. Although, for a while, she was stuck in the awkward middle ground of being the only Avenger.
During the 90's, Black Widow was technically the leader of the Avengers. However, it wasn't exactly a position you would want on your CV.
Her job mainly consisted of organising missions and working behind the scenes. For god knows what reason, the Avengers decided the one to actually lead them in battle should be Black Knight (who at the time used a cheap knock-off lightsaber).
To make things worse, everyone except Black Widow was then seemingly killed by Onslaught. Not exactly a glowing testament to her leadership abilities.
Black Widow was undeterred though and set out to form an all-new Avengers team of her own. It was an embarrassing failure. Not only did she fail to recruit anyone, but she was also nearly sued by the Mary Stark Foundation (one of Iron Man's companies) for unauthorised use of the Avengers trademark.
With that idea shot down, she began operating as the world's one and only Avenger until the stress caused he to have a mental breakdown.
