10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Elektra

9. THAT 2005 Film

Jennifer Garner Elektra
Fox

Remember that terrifying period a decade or so ago when Fox owned all the rights to Daredevil? And Ben Affleck was Matt Murdock? And Jennifer Garner was Elektra? Do you also, then, remember just how bad the 2005 Elektra spin-off was?

Not that it should matter anyway, but both Catwoman and Elektra ensured that multiple women-led comic book features were put on hold indefinitely. Studios, somehow perplexed at the thought that maybe the problem was that they were hiring the wrong people, shelved plans for subsequent female superhero flicks, and placed the entire Daredevil license on ice for a further decade until Netflix swooped in and saved all our lives with a gripping and intelligent small screen revival.

The film currently sits on a tasty 10% on Rotten Tomatoes, which means it's pretty damn terrible. Contrast that with 2015's Daredevil, which currently earns all the plaudits out there, and it makes you appreciate Marvel Studios' intervention all the more.
