8. Stan Lee Got His Name Wrong (A Lot)
Stan Lee is one of the most prolific creators in superhero comic history, and he remains a totemic figure to Marvel Comics (appearing in cameos in basically every one of their movies, even though he hasn't technically worked for the company for decades in any significant role). He's also a man who made a lot of mistakes in his time.
A lot of mistakes. One of his most common was just plain forgetting the name of characters and, without any editors to pick up on his crummy memory, many early Marvel books are littered with errors. The most common was his referring to Bruce Banner as “Bob Banner”; ironic, since he chose the alliterative name so he could better remember it.
Thankfully, Lee's genius didn't just include his ability to cook up dozens of iconic superheroes. He covered his tracks – after readers had picked up on the recurring error – by revealing that the full name of The Hulk's alter ego was Robert Bruce Banner. Still no explanation for Dr David Banner in the TV show, though...
