4. He Once Became Even More Rock-Like Than Usual

Whew, that is one spikey boy.
Although the prospect of the Thing transforming to become even Thing-ier might seem like an odd one, such a thing happened in the late eighties. Hit by further rays, Ben takes on an even rockier complexion, resembling a video game villain more than an actual comic book character. The design just looked awkward, with the character only returning to his older form out of his feelings for Ms. Marvel.
Needless to say, Ben has never returned to the spiked design, with Kirby's original vision dominating the character's subsequent appearances as should be the case.
That said, it's not the weirdest design change the character's underwent, or the silliest...
