10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About Wolverine

6. He Was Humiliated By Punisher

Garth Ennis' disdain for conventional superheroes is pretty well documented and so whenever they appear in one of his comics, he'll go out of his way to make them look as dumb as possible.

In Punisher #17, Frank is on the trail of someone who has been killing gangsters before he can get to them, only to find that Wolverine is doing the same. Comics being comics, they both immediately assume the other is the culprit and fight.

Now normally, a fight like this would involve both heroes swapping blows in a completely equal fight, before putting aside their differences to stop the villain together. That's not what happens. Instead we get a sequence of Frank making Logan look like an idiot amateur.

First Punisher blows his face off with a shotgun, leaving nothing but an adamantium skull. Then, to add insult to injury, he takes a machine gun to the Howlett family jewels (proving that Punisher is better at killing off Wolverine's children than even Logan himself). Finally, he sets him on fire, just for good measure.

As painful and humiliating as all that is though, Frank knows it won't take Logan long to heal. Needing a way to incapacitate Wolverine for a good long while, he finishes the job by running him over with a steamroller, trapping him underneath.

Apparently we should all be getting our crime-fighting tips from Looney Tunes.

I was just a mild-mannered NCTJ accredited journalist until one day I found out the truth... that I could share my nerdy ramblings with people on the internet! It's just like mumbling to myself on the train, but without all the strange looks.
