10 Things We Learned From Marvel’s “All-New, All-Different” Relaunch

3. Iron Man Is Back...?

Sam Wilson Captain America
Marvel Comics

Iron Man underwent a change of his own before Secret Wars. Following AXIS, in which heroes and villains had their personalities and alignments inverted, Tony Stark remained evil. He exposed San Francisco to the Extremis virus, developed a new silver suit of armor for himself, and went AWOL from the Illuminati, personally clashing with Steve Rogers and drawing the ire of both sides leading up to the final incursion.

"Invincible Iron Man," by Brian Bendis and David Marquez, has been promoted as the centerpiece book of the All-New, All-Different relaunch, and it would seem that Tony Stark is back in red and gold when he belongs -- or is he? Stark's actions following AXIS made him a wanted man, and Steve Rogers's personal betrayal at Tony's hands (and subsequent determination to see him pay for his crimes) makes it seem unlikely he would be back to his old tricks, even after eight months.

Perhaps Tony Stark isn't in the brand-new Iron Man armor, after all. Steve Rogers was rendered frail and old when The Iron Nail sapped him of his super-soldier serum, but he's still helped Marvel's heroes from a tactical standpoint, and when he donned armor in Avengers 44, he was able to go toe to toe with Iron Man. Could it be Steve Rogers underneath this new suit?

All will be revealed in three months.
