10 Things You Didn't Know About Darkseid

Darkseid, despite the name of the property he hails from, is not an actual, capital G God. DC comics are very clear on the distinction between the New Gods and the actual gods. Jack Kirby was just really, REALLY into the ancient aliens theory that was really popular at the time (see basically everything about the Eternals). But that doesn't mean that Darkseid is 100% mortal either.

The biggest thing Darkseid has going for him, bar none, is the fact that he cannot ever truly be killed. Even if Superman gets over his whole no killing policy and takes out Darkseid, even if New Genesis builds their own Death Star and blows Apokolips into space dust, it would not matter. You can take out every one of Darkseid's cronies, but the man himself is not truly physical. His body is merely an avatar, a physical embodiment of the Omega Force.

Uxas left the physical plane behind when he became one with the Omega Force, and "Darkseid" is just that form given shape.
