10 Things You Didn't Know About Magneto
10. He Nearly Killed Wolverine
To be fair, if you have metal bones and your mortal enemy can control metal, something like this was bound to happen sooner or later. In 1993 Magneto finally lost his patience with the Wolverine and proceeded to tear the adamantium from his bones. Logan only survived because Jean Grey was on hand to telekinetically hold him together long enough for his healing factor to repair the damage.
Thus began a long downward spiral for Wolverine. The resulting trauma first burned out his healing factor then, when it eventually returned, accelerated his mutations to the point where he was little more than a raging beast. After a prolonged absence from the X-Men, Wolverine was abducted by Apocalypse, who restored the adamantium to his bones and made him the leader of his new team of Horsemen.
Of course, no one realised this was happening until a Skrull that had been impersonating Wolverine eventually went up against the Horseman and died in the resulting battle. Don't worry, though; being Wolverine, the new Death soon got better. As for Magneto, his attack on Wolverine was too much for Xavier to tolerate, and the latter shut down the Master of Magnetism's brain. This lead to both an extended absence from Magneto in the comics and the creation of Onslaught; one of the most powerful enemies born from the presence of Magneto's mind in Xavier's body.
