5. They Were Going To Kill Him Off Way Before Forever Evil
Everybody hates Dick I guess...
During the battle of Metropolis in Infinite Crisis, Nightwing suffered a near fatal injury in the process of saving Batman from Alexander Luthor's attack. He lives and continues to do so as Nightwing following this story arc. However, this was not always the intention according to the DC Panel at WizardWorld Philadelphia:
It was again explained that Nightwing was originally intended to die in Infinite Crisis, and that you can see the arc that was supposed to end with his death in the series. After long discussions, the death edict was finally reversed, but the decision was made that, if they were going to be keeping him, he would have to be changed. It was said the next arc of the ongoing series will further explain the changes.
Nobody knows why DC wanted Dick Grayson dead. However, we know now what a mistake that move would have been in hindsight
