10 Things You Didn't Know About Red Skull

9. ...But He Lived In Captain America's Body For A Bit

Red Skull Powers
Marvel Comics

Over the years the Red Skull has inhabited many bodies, using the Cosmic Cube to swap minds with Soviet general Aleksander Lukin after being shot and later having his original form cloned so he wouldn't have to explain his nom de plume from within a fairly regular, flesh-covered-and-coloured skull. Then there's the time he had Cap's body.

Not like that, you perverts. After slowly dying from old age, he was resurrected by faithful Hydra lieutenant and Nazi geneticist Arnim Zola. Zola had obtained DNA samples of Captain America years earlier, and produced a cloned Steve Rogers who he implanted the brain of the Red Skull in. Which produced no shortage of problems.

Taking the alter ego of John Smith (the English equivalent of Johann Schmidt; tough code to crack), the new Red Skull not only boasts all the super soldier abilities of Cap but also turns his back on Nazism and embraces American ideology. He plans to use capitalism to overthrow the government and install himself as fuhrer, but, still, he did it as a Yankee.
