10 Things You Need To Know About Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight

3. His Brother Is A Supervillain

Moon Knight Oscar Isaac
Marvel Comics

Inspired by Marc Spector, his brother, Randall, followed his footsteps and joined the army. While there, he was exposed to uranium-tipped shells, which led to Randall developing energy-based powers. When he accidentally blasted a nurse with an energy beam, he was discharged, leaving his reputation in tatters.

After losing everything, Randall spitefully hunted down his brother's girlfriend and killed her. Marc tracked down his brother and lobbed a grenade at him, seemingly killing him.

Over a decade later, cult leader, Nepthys, empowered Randall with "lunar energy", giving him similar powers to the Moon Knight. Although he was supposedly murdered by the Punisher, he appeared once again during the Shadowland storyline. Regarding himself as a failure, Randall was preparing to take his life until a man called The Profile convinced him he was the new avatar of Khonshu.

Randall believed he couldn't become a true avatar of the moon god until he killed his brother. When Marc located his sibling down in a crowded street, he saw Randall had strapped explosives to him and was preparing to blow the area to kingdom come. Left with no choice, Marc hurled a crescent at Randall's throat, killing him.
