10 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About Spider-Man
1. Secret Sister
First appearing in Amazing Spider-Man: Family Business #1, unbeknownst to Peter, he has a sister named Teresa. When their CIA agent parents Richard and Mary Parker were killed, Peter was given to Ben and May, his aunt and uncle, to raise. Teresa was adopted by unknown parents. She has never known her true parentage and what little she has learned had been questionable information from the likes of Mentallo and the Chameleon.
Teresa was recruited personally by Nick Fury to join the Central Intelligence Agency. She re-entered Peter’s life when they were both targeted by mysterious assassins. Spider-Man saved them and Monaco, but his identity was revealed on the road to Cairo when a second set of killers attacked. They also discovered that the Kingpin was behind the attacks. With the surprising help of Mentallo, they defeated Kingpin and departed.
Teresa next asked for Spidey’s help when she was part of a S.H.I.E.L.D. division called the Gray Blade with Project Twilight. They had created plans to destroy both heroes and villains. Putting the information into a bio-solution that she injected into her bloodstream, Agent Parker sought to thwart their plans. Not only was S.H.I.E.L.D. after her, but the Tinkerer also wanted the information. With the unwitting help of J. Jonah Jameson, the notes were destroyed and Teresa turned herself in for stealing from a government agency. Once released, Peter introduced Teresa to Aunt May, without revealing who she was.
