10 Times Batman And The Joker Saved Each Other

Ah, the good old Lazarus Pits. How many plots have been saved and retcons made thanks to the miraculous Lazarus Pits?

The magical healing holes of Ra's al Ghul, given a very liberal interpretation in The Dark Knight Rises, serve as a glorified plot device. Need someone brought back from the dead? Lazarus Pits. Need someone who it seemed certain was going to die at the end of one issue suddenly be miraculously healed at the beginning of the next? Lazarus Pits. Need a villain's immortality to be easily explained away? You guessed it.

Generally, these wonderful cure-alls that have allowed Ra's al Ghul to stay alive for centuries come with the caveat that they make the user, temporarily at least, completely insane. In the case of the Joker, however, it has the opposite effect, making him temporarily sane. Our Cowled Crimefighter used this perhaps even more disconcerting than usual version of the Joker to take down the immortal leader of the League of Assassins.

While a sane Joker is always a fun concept to run with for a while, ultimately the Crazed Comedian is always best as an unhinged maniac, and was back to his old ways soon enough.
