10 Times Batman Died (And What Happened Next)

1. Batman Met His End Via Darkseid's Omega Beams

Batman Arkham
DC Comics

Batman has been killed plenty of times in the comics, but his most recent and impactful death came in pages of the Final Crisis event, which saw the Dark Knight go up against Darkseid. When he does face off against one of the most powerful characters in the DC Universe, he doesn't do it without being prepared.

In fact, preparation is the one thing you can always count on Batman to do, as he's pretty much prepared for any situation. Still, being prepared and standing up to a being who had rendered all other superheroes useless in the fight are two different things.

When Batman stood before Darkseid, he did so with a gun capable of firing a radion bullet, which would atomize Darkseid on impact. At this point, Batman was ready to break his "one rule," and after Darkseid taunts him by calling him "little man," Bats doesn't blink an eye. He fired, hitting Darkseid in the shoulder.

Unfortunately, Darkseid fired off his Omega Beams at the same time, killing Batman instantly. While he was apparently dead in the present, that's not entirely what happened. His spirit was thrown to the distant past, where he was forced to live life after life, with each one being more difficult than the last.
