10 Times Batman Fought Well Above His Pay Grade

8. Predator

DC ComicsSure, they always get their comeuppance in the movies, but who wouldn€™t when facing down Conan the Governator? Or Danny Glover? Or Adrien Brody? Or any other leading man? All jokes aside, the Yautja of both the films and the extended universe are no pushovers. Completely at ease with stalking their prey for days on end, analyzing their every weakness for a surefire means of victory, and a sense of honourable conduct, these intergalactic hunters are not so dissimilar to Earth€™s greatest detective; and with an arsenal that includes including cloaking, visual enhancements, vocal mimicry, and all kinds of stabby-slashy armaments that are sure to ruin a flying rodent€™s day, it should come as no surprise that the two would come together in a battle royale, right? Dark Horse ComicsDark Horse ComicsAs strange as it might seem, yes, actually. Batman versus Predator was one of DC and Darkhorse€™s most popular crossovers at the time of its release in 1992. Bats probably didn€™t expect to run into a dreadlocked extraterrestrial killing machine while investigating mob activity in Gotham, which might explain why he got the living daylights beat out of him when he comes upon its lair. It€™s probably kind of hard to hide in the shadows, assessing your target and being all detective-y, when they can see you in every possible light spectrum. Why a Predator is running around Gotham pulling a Red Hood and making a mess of things on Batman€™s turf is never really explained, but then again, what kind of civilization has the time and resources to traverse entire galaxies for sport? The first book was so successful that it led to the publication of two sequels, Batman versus Predator: Bloodmatch and Batman versus Predator: Blood Ties, in 1995 and 1997. If you look carefully at a Predator trophy wall above, you€™ll see that the Dark Knight isn€™t the only superhero Predators have pitted themselves against€and won.

Spencer is an avid lover of storytelling and cinema. This likely began in a simpler time when watching Indiana Jones kick the snot out of Nazis and pretending to be a velociraptor were standard fare for the day. He’s absurdly opinionated and somewhat stubborn, qualities only mildly offset by his awareness of his own insignificance. Spencer is nearly always restless, but he'll settle for food, friends, and a good pint anytime.
