10 Times Batman Was The Villain

1. When He Chose Doom - Batman: Last Knight On Earth #3

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR BATMAN: LAST KNIGHT ON EARTH!

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's final Batman story heavily tied into ideas established in Snyder's Justice League run - namely the conflicting ideologies of justice and doom.

Shockingly, the Justice League stood for justice, while their enemies, the Legion of Doom, stood for doom. This brought the two groups into a climactic battle, with the League holding their final stand against Luthor's hordes outside the Hall of Justice. In the original story, the key members of the League were forced to escape (leading into the events of the upcoming Dark Nights: Death Metal) but in the Last Knight continuity Batman realised it was hopeless and opened the doors to the Legion.

This created the Earth we see in Last Knight. The population is a fraction of what it was, the heroes are all scattered or dead, and natural (well, some are created by the powers of dead heroes) disasters ravage the land. Batman himself went on to become a sort of warlord named Omega, whose plan to end all the chaos involved taking control of everyone's minds.

What an optimistic future.
