The other other time that Captain America found himself at the wrong end of an omnipotent being with a grudge against superheroes was during the 1984-1985 Secret Wars, wherein a bored god-like alien called The Beyonder spirited teams of superheroes and villains away to a distant planet called Battleworld so they could fight and Marvel could sell lots of tie-in action figures. Most of what happened during the crossover had little bearing on the Marvel Universe either before or after (with the notable exception of Spider-Man picking up his black symbiote costume there), with all the major events being undone by The Beyonder before sending everyone back home. Like Doctor Doom killing everyone. Captain America first dies along with every other hero in the penultimate issue, only for The Beyonder to resurrect them. Then he meets his fate in the final issue at the hands of Doom, only for The Beyonder to possess the Black Panther villain Klaw and bring Steve Rogers back from the brink again.
