10 Times Comic Book Heroes Became Villains (In A Big Way)

What starts with a pretty gritty idea circles the drain of decency, with the Joker basically tormenting Batman by having his goons kidnap and showcase families consisting of two parents and one child. The Joker continuously recreates the Dark Knight’s origin time and time again in front of him as he’s all helpless and chained up. Batman does break free but he accidentally snaps the Clown Prince of Crime’s neck, which releases an extra strong dose of Joker Gas straight into Batman’s face.

When it becomes painfully clear that Batman is getting more and more messed up, he assembles the Bat Family (Nightwing, Robin, Red Robin, Batgirl and Red Hood) and puts them through some pretty arduous training. They quickly realise that their mentor is prepping them to defeat him when he finally snaps. It seems for a second like he’s ready to take their help and try to fight the Joker’s toxins inside him, but then... well, he turns around and guns them all down - all with a smile on his face.

From there on in he’s just completely lost, killing the Justice League, destroying the world’s governments and ending humanity on Earth. A terrifying turn for all concerned.
