10 Times Constantine Outsmarted Everyone

Nergal and Constantine have something of a history, with Nergal being the closest thing John has to an actual nemesis. However, one time, Nergal approached John with an offer of a truce if he pulled a certain job for him.

See, there's a cult called the Resurrection Crusade that's planning on using John's girlfriend Zed to bring about the second coming by summoning an angel to impregnate her. John was assigned to thwart them by whatever means he felt necessary. So, John snuck in and had consensual sex with Zed, impregnating her first. And since Nergal's demonic blood runs through John's veins, Heaven rejected her as the vessel for the second coming. Which, in the world of Constantine, means Zed dies. Horribly.

But just as Nergal thinks Hell has emerged victorious and the anti-Christ's birth is at hand, he realizes how John got back at him. He lent Swamp Thing his body so that he could impregnate his wife, Abby Holland. By doing this with John's demon tainted body, the prophecy is fulfilled in neutral terms.

So much death, only for nobody to win.
