Where is your precious moral code when it comes to The Hand, huh Murdock? As much as all the bone-crunching violence came as a surprise to virgin Daredevil viewers, eventually they got settled into that. It was gritty, street level stuff. Like a realistic cop drama! And then ninjas starting turning up and everyone was confused again. For what it's worth, their appearance in the comic was just as sudden and jarring as well, with Frank Miller introducing his love of chop-socky cinema around the same time he ramped up the Catholic guilt thing by about 1000%. The Hand have since become a big part of Daredevil lore, a ninja clan violently opposed to Murdock's continued existence. The Man Without Fear tends to return in kind, not holding back quite so much with his other enemies as he does with The Hand, cutting them down with ease. Sometimes they turn into piles of dust, because they're mystical demons. Sometimes he's just stabbing lots of Japanese people to death to avoid being overwhelmed, which isn't cool.
