10 Times Marvel Was Forced To Change Spider-Man

2. Spider-Man Is Not Allowed To Get Drunk

Marvel has its fair share of boozers. Thor can chug a keg of mead with ease. Iron Man is infamous for his alcoholism. When Wolverine has any free time, you can usually find him in a bar.

But one person you never see drinking beer is Spider-Man. The few times Web-head visits a pub, he tends to have a glass of milk rather than a martini. When Paul Scheer tried writing a Spider-Man/Deadpool story that depicted Peter Parker drinking, Marvel bosses swooped in and axed this idea. Their reason why was simple - Spider-Man can't be depicted consuming alcohol.

Weirdly, this isn't the only time this happened. At Aunt May's wedding to J. Jonah Sr, Peter got smashed after downing 11 bottles of champagne. But because of the No Drinking Rule, it was later explained that Peter only got drunk because he THOUGHT he was drinking champagne. Spider-Man mightn't be a teetotaller but it's nearly impossible to think of a time in 60+ years where he got even a little tipsy.

Even though this rule is strict, it's understandable. Because Spider-Man's fan base is mainly composed of kids, its logical why Marvel don't want to see the iconic superhero getting drunk.
