Cerebro is both one of Xavier's smartest creations, and one of his most dangerous creations, simultaneously. Invented by Xavier in his youth, the machine is designed to detect mutants, allowing the leader and ambassador of the X-Men to find and recruit mutants across the globe.

With so many mutants not realising they have powers until they lose control of them, this device can essentially work as a preventative measure, saving undiscovered mutants from themselves - and those around them - before anything goes wrong. Furthermore, after the formation of the X-Men, the device has been used almost constantly to track missing or rogue members of the team down, saving the lives of the collective X-Men a countless amount of times.

Being able to essentially microchip all your unpredictable mutant children is never a bad move - especially when they're constantly being kidnapped by an endless score of villains.
