10 Times Spider-Man Was A Real Jerk

3. Dismissing Protestors - Amazing Spider-Man #68

Don't you hate it when you're vibing on a new superhero and then out of nowhere the writer just slaps you in the face with Randian bullcrap? That's how I imagine a lot of comic readers felt when Amazing Spider-Man #68 first hit shelves.

This issue is where Steve Ditko's fountainhead-ness was first smacked in the faces of Spider-Man fans when Peter callously dismisses a bunch of protestors, and the story backs him up by treating them like a bunch of whiny spoiled kids.

Later books, particularly Al Ewing's run on The Avengers, would retcon this as Spidey going through an awkward Randian phase that he cringes at to this day. But in this single story, not cool Spidey, this definitely ain't it chief.
