10 Times Spider-Man Won A Fight He Should Have Lost
1. Surviving The Juggernaut
Roger Stern's classic Nothing Can Stop The Juggernaut story in Amazing Spider-Man #229 and #230 is rightly considered a classic. It pits Spidey against far more powerful foe, and it showcases Spider-Man's willingness to throw his own life into danger to save those of others.
But really, shouldn't the Juggernaut have squashed Spider-Man in two or three panels?
Sure, Spider-Man is fast enough to avoid many of the Juggernaut's blows. But this wasn't an adventure in which Spider-Man could have kept jumping out of the way forever. Spider-Man was actually trying to stop the Juggernaut.
Eventually, Spider-Man tricks the Juggernaut to win his fight, getting the behemoth to trap himself in a pool of wet cement.
This is a fun moment. And even Spider-Man knows that his victory is temporary, that the Juggernaut will soon escape. But let's be honest, the Juggernaut should have knocked Spidey into Jersey before our hero had the chance to trick him.
