10 Times Superman Fought Other Superheroes (And Who Won)

Superman and Batman are not only two of the most recognizable and popular Superheroes in DC, but in all of comics.

In many ways the two heroes are polar opposites of each. Superman is an extraordinary being capable of extraordinary feats and Batman is an ordinary human capable of equally extraordinary feats. This contrast creates an interesting dynamic between the two heroes whenever they appear in the same story.

However, the biggest difference between Batman and Superman has nothing to with their power abilities but with their personalities. Batman is cold, misanthropic and uncompromising while Superman is kind, courteous, and equally as uncompromising. When these personalities find a common ground, they work, and when they clash, the whole world watches in awe.

Such was the case in Frank Miller's seminal comic, The Dark Knight Returns. Years after Batman hangs up his cowl, heroes are outlawed and only permitted to work for the government. Batman finds himself at odds with Superman (who now works for the government) when he decides to don the cape again, and what do they do? These big heroes with their big egos decide to work out their disagreements by beating the life out of each other.

While the fight does end with Batman faking a heart attack - and it must be noted that Superman was not trying his best - Batman was still laying down the pain on Supes for the majority of this legendary fight (with a little help from Green Arrow too of course).
