10 Times Wolverine Went Too Far

7. Assuming The Role Of Apocalypse

Technically this was done by an alternate version of Wolverine from the future, but hey it’s still Wolverine so it's fairplay.

Apocalypse is perhaps the X-Men’s greatest ever adversary. The ancient mutant has been a deadly thorn in their side for as long as fans can remember. The former pharaoh has done countless terrible things to Xavier and co. Which makes it all the more sinister that one of their stalwarts, would go on to take control of Apocalypse’s power, and assume his role.

Following Apocalypse’s defeat in the Age of Apocalypse, the future Logan, or Weapon X as he was known, had been keeping a low profile. That changed when his daughter Kirkia, convinced him to take on the job of eliminating Mister Sinister. Following his return to active duty, Logan gets assigned to enter an unknown spaceship that had landed on earth. The goal was to kill everyone on board.

The mission ends in mysterious circumstances, with Wolverine disappearing for ten whole years. When he does return however, he does so in the form of a celestially enhanced warlord and the would-be successor to Apocalypse. Naturally, he goes on to wreak havoc, and even tries to convert Jean into one of the Horsemen.
