10 Unbelievable Comic Book Cameos Nobody Saw Coming

1. Princess Diana In X-Statix

Having a recently deceased member of the royal family made into a superhero for your comic is sort of like making the Titanic into a wacky sitcom - it's not illegal, per say, but it's one of the most morally sketchy moves around.

This didn't stop the producers of X-Statix, though, as a mere five years later announcements were made that a mutant zombie Diana character was set to appear in the series. The scandal of this steadily grew worse as interviews were conducted, most especially one where a writer said Diana 'looks great in spandex!', presumably in an attempt to prove that supervillains can also exist outside of the pages of comics.

This proved to be exactly a tasteless as it sounded, and Diana's character was changed to one not based on a tragic demise. Despite this backpeddling, the series would finish fairly soon after, with the media disaster of this storyline no doubt playing a key role.

It can't be denied that Princess Diana was basically a real-life superhero, but this doesn't mean adapting her to comic heroism is anything less than the crazist and most uncaring move to maybe ever happen in comics.
