10 Unbelievable Comic Book Cameos Nobody Saw Coming

7. Benjamin Franklin In Deadpool

Obama Suicide Squad
Marvel Comics

Under conventional circumstances, Benjamin Franklin showing up in a comic is not in itself that crazy. A ghost Benjamin Franklin, resurrected in spectral form to help takedown evil zombie founding fathers, however, definitely is.

That said, the weirdest part of this cameo is that Franklin stays to become a character after the ghost shenanigans end, presumably because nobody wants to stop writing lines for an undead founding father. Franklin's character ends up sort of just hanging out in the comic, which is absolutely hilarious, because his character basically exists to do cool ghost stuff.

Although Deadpool has its fair share of insane characters - cyborg moms, regenerating werewolves, Deadpool himself - the famous ghost takes the cake, just for the simple fact that for three-quarters of the comic he is in he serves zero purpose.

Deadpool's comic is fun largely because of its wacky antics, and having a centuries-old ghost dude hanging out just to see what funny things the writers and artists can have him do is maybe the best example of this imaginable.
