10 Unluckiest Comic Book Characters
6. Daredevil
Much of Matt Murdock’s misfortune centres around his secret identity of Daredevil being exposed - a problem which seems to dog him more than any other superhero.
When his civilian identity was first compromised, Matt invented a twin brother, Mike, to take the flack for Daredevil. However, his receptionist and crush Karen Page fell in love with Mike.
After Matt orchestrated a death for his Mike alter-ego, Karen moved to L.A. and became a heroin-addicted porn star. Wilson Fisk took advantage of her situation to learn Daredevil’s identity, using it to destroy the life of Matt Murdock.
Matt was forced to fake his own death and adopt a street thug alias after a tabloid newspaper threatened to out him as Daredevil. Matt returned as himself only to be threatened again with another newspaper exposé. This time he used the judicial system to make the threat vanish.
Matt eventually gave in and revealed himself as Daredevil. Unable to continue his day job, he left New York to practice law in San Francisco.
However, as thanks for saving them from their villainous father Zebediah Killgrave (Purple Man), the Purple Children used their father’s mass hypnosis machine to make the world forget that Matt Murdock was Daredevil - although it'd never last.
