10 Unproduced Comic Pitches You Need To See

10. All Star Batgirl

Barbara Gordon recently returned to the DC Universe in fine form with a fresh new spin on the character, courtesy of writers Cameron Stewart and Brendan Fletcher and artist Babs Tarr. The character has seen a resurgence in popularity and attracted a bunch of new readers thanks to its hip, modern take on the character (she lives in Gotham's equivalent of Brooklyn and wears a costume made of actual clothes, not lycra). Readers might have been treated to a similarly radical spin on the character a few years earlier if plans for Geoff Johns and JG Jones's had actually ever come to anything after being announced back in 2006. The All Star line has all but died out now, launched with the stunning out-of-continuity Superman book by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely and just as swiftly tanked by the still-unfinished and irredeemably awful Batman story by Frank Miller and Jim Lee. Johns has since become one of the principal architects of company-wide continuity reboot the New 52, and JG Jones was the artist of such classic storylines as Final Crisis, which would've made for a pretty amazing duo. Unfortunately the project was shelved, with Johns incorporating parts of his unused scripts into Batman: Earth One.
