10 Villains Who Outsmarted Batman

Bane really doesn't get enough credit when it comes to just how many times he's outmanoeuvred the Dark Knight.

Obviously, the most famous of these is Knightfall, where the villain organised basically Batman's entire rogue's gallery against him. After weakening Batman by forcing him to fight all these baddies, Bane goes in for the kill, leading to the iconic moment where he breaks the Dark Knight's spine.

But this isn't the luchador's only moment of brilliance against Gotham's guardian. Bane manages to convince Batman to fund his explorations around the world under the guise that the hulking warrior has reformed. However, it appears he hadn't truly, as he turns against the Dark Knight and heroes in general in Infinite Crisis, suggesting he was using Wayne as a sort of sugar daddy by pretending to have turned good.

Similarly, the newest storyline involving Bane - fittingly called City of Bane - involves the villain literally taking over Gotham and replacing every government official within it with a supervillain, which is also a pretty big victory of the Bat.
