10 Ways To Beat Superman

2. Brute Strength

Sometimes, the simplest solution is the best.

While Superman is superhumanly tough, he isn't completely invulnerable and even the Man of Steel has his limits when it comes to brute force trauma.

Superman has lost his fair share of fistfights (including the time he took a mean right hook from Muhammad Ali himself), but the most famous was undoubtedly in the Death of Superman.

Clark was forced to battle the hulking monster Doomsday after he defeated the entirety of the Justice League (which is really impressive until you remember that the team was made up of losers like Bloodwynd and Maxima). It was a fight that forced Superman to go all out as he found that Doomsday was an opponent who could take whatever the Last Son of Krypton dished out and hit back just as hard.

The two ended up in downtown Metropolis, hitting each other so hard that the shockwaves shattered windows. Despite being battered and on the verge of collapse, Superman was eventually able to fell the beast. However, his injuries were too severe and he died in Lois' arms moments later.

Except then it turned out he was just in a special Krytonian healing coma, setting a precedent in storytelling that would be used to underwhelm fans for decades after.

I was just a mild-mannered NCTJ accredited journalist until one day I found out the truth... that I could share my nerdy ramblings with people on the internet! It's just like mumbling to myself on the train, but without all the strange looks.
