10 Weird And Wonderful Alternate Versions Of Spider-Man
6. Supaidaman
Confession time; this wasn't exactly common knowledge until 'Ready Player One' referenced it about a thousand times, but yeah, apparently Japan took a crack at Spider-Man as a live action show.
Basically sharing the name and costume yet little else, the show goes a little crazy right from the word go. Based around a hip, young motorcycle racer named Takuya Yamashiro, the show attempts to split the action between intense super fights and intense social awkwardness when the guy’s not in costume.
It all kicks off when Yamashiro sees a UFO falling to Earth but it’s the radical racer’s dad, a ‘space archaeologist', who finds it ends up dying. This leaves his son to investigate further and find an alien from Planet Spider, who injects the poor lad with some of his blood.
Perhaps to make up for this completely weird spontaneous blood transfusion the alien also bequeaths him a magical space bracelet. It shoots webs, dons Yamashiro with the Supaidaman suit and can control the shape-shifting spaceship that turns into a giant mech.
All these powers are given to him so that he can fight the brilliantly named Professor Monster and the Iron Cross Army. Then end result is, well, that image. It's pretty sick... and really funny.
