Yet another live action interpretation this one was actually intended to be stupid and funny, mainly as it was written by the good folks behind ‘Blackadder’. Originally conceived as a Batman parody called ‘Batadder’, Spider-Plant Man was adapted as a Comic Relief special and featured the talents of Rowan Atkinson, Rachel Stevens and Simon Pegg.

Starting with the mild mannered Peter Piper being bitten by a spider plant, Piper quickly realises he’s gained all the powers of a spider, and a spider plant.

As the premise is utterly ridiculous it should be no surprise that the superhero movie archetype is ridiculed throughout. There's jokes like the camera angle for ‘climbing up walls’ merely being titled, shown by a street sweeper passing by when there's wall crawling going on. Then there's poking fun at the merchandising side of the industry, with Batman and Robin arguing who receives what share of product profits.

The story itself continues in an equally whimsical fashion, with an incredibly quick plot rushing through the usual three arc act to showcase fight scenes above all and noting how swiftly a love interest can be swept off their feet, shown by Spider-Plant Man proposing basically after their first kiss.

We’re even shown the couple on their honeymoon, with the hero still clad in his costume. I mean, why not? After all, who doesn't intent to be dressed as Spider-Man on their honeymoon?...No one?

Oh. Never mind then, moving on...
