7. Devil Dinosaur
One of the many demands that Marvel made of Jack Kirby was that he create a comic book series with a dinosaur since they were popular with kids (and adults too if we're being honest).
The result was Devil Dinosaur. Devil was a red fire-breathing tyrannosaurus who fought evil with his partner, the prehistoric human Moon-Boy. Their adventures took place on "Dinosaur World", which was either the distant past of the Marvel Universe or a different universe entirely depending on who you believe.
Their intial series only lasted a few months before it was cancelled. After that, Moon-Boy and Devil Dinosaur appeared sporadically in the Marvel Universe, occasionally finding themselves transported to the modern day to team up with other superheroes.
Devil Dinosaur's most notable appearance in that time was as the smoking-jacket clad villain of the out-of-continuity and excellently insane Nextwave.
More recently, he has appeared in the series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Devil chased his enemies the Killer-Folk through a portal to the present day and teamed up with the nine year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette. Together they were able to stop the Killer-Folk and retrieve the artefact they had stolen, the Kree Omni-Wave Projector.
