10 Weird Moments You Forgot Happened In Iconic Comics

9. The Flash Learning Of The Multiverse

Aquaman DC
DC Comics

The DC Comics story, The Flash of Two Worlds, begins with the Flash, Barry Allen vibrating into a parallel Earth. He then meets the Flash of that Earth, Jay Garrick. Garrick was the first superhero to be referred to as the Flash. His comics were cancelled after sales plummeted due to WWII so this story was a nice way to reincorporate him into the current comics.

Although this wasn't the first time a DC character entered a parallel Earth (that honour belongs to Wonder Woman,) it inspired stories of superheroes crossing into different dimensions and battling multiversal threats; a theme that is still relevant in current comics.

But the big question is - How did Barry Allen discover this other Earth? Did he run so fast, he broke through time and space? Was it a science experiment gone wrong?

No. He was performing a magic trick. As this story begins, Barry Allen shows up at his girlfriend's charity. Although there was meant to be magician there to entertain children, he is nowhere to be seen. To help his girlfriend out, Allen puts on his Flash costume and starts performing tricks to the audience by using his superspeed. He concludes his show by using his speed to give the illusion that he magically disappeared. However, it turns out he DID magically disappear. Flash vibrated so quickly, he landed on a different Earth.

That's right. Epic multiverse stories like Crisis on Infinite Earths, 52, Flashpoint, Infinite Crisis, and Final Crisis all came to be because of a story where Flash performed a magic show for children. When you phrase it like that, it sounds pretty silly.
