When Chew started, Michael Applebee - our hero's boss - seemed like a very predictable character. An aggressive, condescending boss, Applebee makes the life of Tony Chu hell for the majority of the start of the series.

Then he falls in love with and marries Tony's best friend and work partner, John Colby, and is wounded in a mission so badly that he is given a robot centaur body to carry him around.

And suddenly, Applebee appears far, far less predictable.

The prosthetic body is also interchangeable, as we later see Michael wearing a robot spider body, too - meaning god knows how many actual robo-animal lower halves he keeps in his wardrobe.
