10 Widely Mocked Comic Book Villains That Get A Bad Press

10. Calendar Man (DC)

First Appearance: Detective Comics #259, 1958 There are literally hordes of Batman villains who could be included in this list but, for the purposes of not being completely boring, it won't be completely full of them. Calendar Man is definitely one who needs to be included, however, as he is generally frowned upon by comic readers - even fans of Batman - but is actually extremely dangerous (at least when it comes to facing opponents of Batman's level anyway). Calendar Man's schtick is that his crimes always have something to do with the date on which he commits them (for example, on a Sunday, he attempted to steal an artefact relating to the Egyptian God of the Sun, Ra). He generally ends up losing because the nature of his crimes apparently makes him very predictable (for example, one time when he planned to flee from Batman on a train called the "Western Sun Express", Batman predicted this because it was on a Sunday). Not only is this supposed predictability very unbelievable (there are thousands of things someone could do that are related to any given day), but Calendar Man's genius and, in particular, his own equipment, is extremely dangerous. He has actually confronted Batman with an ultrasonic weapon, of his own design, which was built-in to his helmet and actually nearly killed the caped crusader. The theme of the character (who, for the record, is called Julian Gregory Day - a play on the calendars of the same name) also deserves more respect as it makes for a very unique villain overall.
