10 Wonder Woman Graphic Novels You Must Read Before You Die

6. The Circle

Wonder Woman Year One Rebirth
DC Comics

When her mother, Hippolyta decided to have a daughter, she prayed to the Gods, but was rebuffed by the other Amazonians in her circle: Myrto, Charis, Philomela, and Alkyone. In defiance, she formed a child from clay and asked the others to take her as their daughter. They refused and attempted to kill the baby only to find themselves imprisoned.

Years later, Diana is hiding out in her latest secret identity as Diana Prince, a new agent at the Department of Metahuman Affairs when a threat brings her back to Themyscira.

A devastating attack may spell the end of the agency and it will be up to Diana to battle an ancient foe, the Circle. The recently-freed Amazonians turn on Wonder Woman, but events play out in a manner leading to redemption, forgiveness, and death!

Wonder Woman: The Circle continues the brilliant work of Gail Simone with a character she clearly knows well. The book compiles Wonder Woman vol. 3, issues #14-17.
