10 Worst Things The Green Goblin Has Done To Spider-Man
8. Torturing Peter In An Effort To Make Him The Goblin Heir
After spending so many years trying to kill Peter, in 2000s "Revenge of the Green Goblin" storyline, Norman decides to take an entirely different approach with his adversary. Norman poisons a tube of Peters toothpaste with a hallucinogenic, causing him to have crazy dreams and act irrationally. When Norman deems the time is right he abducts Peter and physically tortures him in an effort to get him to reject the light and embrace darkness. As Peter questions why Norman is torturing him rather than just killing him, Osborn reveals that he wants his opponent to take the Goblin Serum and become his heir. Peter rejects Normans offer and fights back, but not before Osborn successfully sows the seeds of doubt in Peters head. During one scene earlier in the storyline, Norman opens the door to Peters room and floods it with light, causing him to recoil in pain. Norman is sure to remind Peter that he learned to embrace the darkness, and it is only a matter of time before he becomes Osborns heir, even if the transformation is more psychological instead of physical.
