10 Worst Things The Green Goblin Has Done To Spider-Man

7. Creating Life Model Decoys Of Peter€™s Parents

Top10goblin 07 There€™s been a lot of Norman Osborn on this list €“ and rightly so, he€™s the original Green Goblin €“ but the early 90s marked a time in Spider-Man history when the second Goblin, Harry Osborn, got the last laugh of his family€™s long-time foe. At the end of 1992€™s Amazing Spider-Man #365, Peter is legitimately shocked when his parents €“ long believed to be dead €“ show up at Aunt May€™s door. Over the next 20-plus issues, Peter finds himself reconnecting with his parents, despite the fact that there are some red flags about their actual identities. Since nothing ever goes right for Peter, it is eventually revealed that his parents were life model decoys implemented by one of his oldest foes, the Chameleon. But there€™s a twist. After defeating the Chameleon, Spider-Man finds a computer disc marked for his eyes €œonly.€ When he inserts the disc, the Green Goblin (who had died a few months earlier in Spectacular Spider-Man #200) appears on the screen telling his old friend that he was the mastermind behind the reappearance of his parents. Harry says that Peter should consider it payback for the death of his father Norman in Amazing Spider-Man #122. The reveal sends Peter down a very dark path for the next few years, which is further complicated by the Clone Saga that monopolized the Spider-verse for a number of years in the mid/late 90s. The saga of Peter€™s parents is arguably Harry Osborn€™s cruelest moment in comic book history.
