10 Worst Things Spider-Man Has Ever Done
4. He Quit Being Spider-Man
Spider-Man No More is one of the Wall Crawler's most famous stories and its iconic cover has been referenced by countless other books.
The story sees Peter Parker, frustrated by the world treating Spider-Man as a criminal and how badly his personal life is suffering because of it, give up his costumed identity and throw his suit in the trash.
While it was an understandable move seeing as how even Spidey's most good-natured actions have a habit of blowing up in his face, it also completely flew in the face of Uncle Ben's teachings about power and responsibility (which you surely don't need quoted here).
As if to hammer that point home, crime in New York began to rapidly rise as soon as Spider-Man disappeared. Worst of all, it allowed Wilson Fisk to finally make his move on the criminal underworld and cement himself as the Kingpin of Crime. It wasn't long before Peter remembered why he became a hero and got back in his underoos, but who knows how many people suffered during his brief retirement. Still, at least New York had their hero back.
It's typical of the old Parker Luck though that even after saving J. Jonah Jameson himself from the Kingpin, Spider-Man was still branded as a menace.
